Students/ Teachers who undergo the SAHI Screening have to pass through the following stations where the different evaluations are done:
This is the first station the students will visit. They will be given a SAHI wrist band with their SAHI registration number on it. The students will also have a sheet containing a list of all the screenings which the speicalists will tick off once the child has completed the station.
In this station, the nurse will check the vital signs: Pulse, Temperature, Respiration and Blood Pressure, plus the height and weight. Health questions for girls of age 11 and above will be sensitively asked. Students will also have the oppurtunity to have a Blood Sugar test (Optional).
This screening will start with medical histort questions. It will, then, move on to a physical check to help detect problems like the respiratort ailments, skeletal problems, skin problems and digestive problems.
The SAHI Ophthalmologist will check the eyes to detect any problems such as Color Vision, Double Vision. The student will also have a basic eye test to check the strength of the eye and advice if a full check is required.
The SAHI ENT doctor will take some history from the student to help with the check. The doctor will also check the ear canal for any abnormalities or blockages. The student's throat will also be checked.
The SAHI dentist in this station will check the teeth and gum. To detect problems, such as Tooth Decay, Loose and Missing Teeth, Oral Hygiene, Gum Problems or any infection.
The Physiotherapy will detect abnormality in the structure of the student body. The Fitness Screening will check the Stamina, Strength and Flexibility of each student.
This screening will address the eating habits for example having breakfast, eating between meals, eating fast food and dietary issues. It will concentrate on having healthy food and portion size.
This screening concentrates on well being and stress. It asks questions about their Academic Stress, Daily Hassles, Peer Groups, Support Systems and Safety Behaviours.
This is the final station. The SAHI team will make sure that the student has completed all the screenings. This is done by checking the chils's registration number on the system.
